EVERY DAY, YOU GET TO CHOOSE A HEALTHIER LIFE

By David Tepera, December 29, 2023

It would be impossible to list every discussion I’ve had with people regarding failures in diet and exercise programs. There’s not one of us who hasn’t failed in one or both of these categories.

Without going into detail, most fad diets are set up for failure. The marketing is programmed to grab your attention, with the endorsement of a celebrity and posting some bogus before and after pictures. If you read the fine print, you’ll discover the scam.

Now, don’t get me wrong. If there’s something out there that’s working for you, then stick with it. Just ask yourself, “Can I live on this diet for the rest of my life?” If not, another failure is around the corner.

I believe most people are aware of the new fad diet loss regimen regarding the diabetic weight loss injections. I’m choosing to not list the names of the drugs for personal perception purposes.

Just know, I have friends and family members who have truly lost weight from these injections. Yes, most of them are losing weight, but what happens when you’re no longer allowed to take the injections? Did you change your lifestyle to eat healthier and exercise? If not, another destructive and expensive failure is coming because you’ll go back to the same unhealthy lifestyle.

New Year’s resolutions are around the corner, and that’s why television and radio weight loss commercials are flooding the waves. They know it’s time to capitalize on the vulnerable — again.

Listen, I’m not trying to pooh-pooh all your diet plans. I’m trying to make you realize that the diet, fitness and supplement industry is a billion-dollar marketing success because of people’s misunderstanding and low self-esteem.

You already know that if you want to lose weight, then it’s about portion control. Americans are obsessed with getting as much food as possible for the money spent. That’s why buffets and “all you can eat” restaurants are booming. If you would take the time to prepare and cook your meals, then you will have a much healthier lifestyle.

Also, don’t misunderstand me, it’s OK to be a little overweight and out of shape, especially depending on your age. Don’t get caught up in the hype about certain body types, and don’t accept the modern age of obesity.

Look, I’m only trying to make you think. You have total control of what you put into your body, so own it. Now, go out there, enjoy life and create a healthier lifestyle; 2024 is nearly here.
